What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Sky SmithSky (The Sarah Jane Adventures character) – Per WP:COMMONNAME, Sky is only called by the surname Smith once in the series, and that possibly colloquially as part of a cover story to explain the character's appearance to others. Sinead Michael is credited in every appearance as simply "Sky". There is no indication that the character uses any surname at a personal level after Sarah Jane adopts her. U-Mos (talk) 23:37, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The distinction is she is not credited with a surname and is only referred to with it in a scene where Sarah Jane creates a ficticious back-story for her. Also, which I forgot to mention above, I have not seen a single secondary source that refers to her as "Sky Smith". U-Mos (talk) 15:54, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have a secondary source on the Sarah Jane Adventures website she is called Sky Smith on your profile BBC-CBBC Sky Smith Thanks Sfxprefects (talk) 16:52, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
If you do move it i would recommend you move it to Sky Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures) to make everyone happy. Sfxprefects (talk) 17:42, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I believe the new name is better, especially since she was given the surname almost in passing. People looking for this page would probably search Sky, with Sarah Jane advendures in there somewhere. Thus smith is not neccessary.Beefcake6412 (talk) 17:45, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I did not think the SJA website had character profiles. That source is clearly an indication of the (for want of a better term) official status of Sky's surname. Request withdrawn. U-Mos (talk) 18:15, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sky SmithSky Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures) – I think Sky Smith should be moved to Sky Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures) to keep in context that this is a fictional character and not a real person just as the rest of The Sarah Jane Adventure Character Pages do such as Luke Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Rani Chandra (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Mr Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures) etc. Thanks Sfxprefects (talk) 13:21, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Such a disambiguation is not needed when there are no other articles named sky smith. Where possible the article should be titled by the subjects most common name with the bracketed text only added when there are multiple article subjects with that name.RafikiSykes (talk) 15:02, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose The reason that the other articles are like that is because there are other articles of the same name meaning that the fictional character was not the primary meaning of the term. This is not the case here since there is only one article named Sky Smith. The use of dabs in the other pages has nothing to do with establishing that those characters are fictional.--70.24.211.105 (talk) 21:13, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment whatever the case, the redirect should exist if this isn't moved. 65.94.77.11 (talk) 07:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose because brackets are only required to disambiguate. Cf. Sarah Jane Smith. However, I would venture the article should be merged into the characters list as there is only a paragraph's worth of real world information about the character who only appears in three stories; "main character" or not, that is not a measure of notability.Zythe (talk) 14:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The proposed disambigutor is much longer than necessary, much longer Wiki disambiguators normally are. For this article, I don't see any problem with the current title. Luke Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures) should be shortened to Luke Smith, since the character is certainly primary topic. Kauffner (talk) 19:40, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose for all the reasons stated ablove in70.24.211.105's post. These pages are only named to reduce the risk of confusion with other living people - there is no one in real life called Sky Smith. In response to the above post about merging the article, it is small at the moment because the character was only introduced a few weeks ago and little is known or published about the character at present. Rafmarham (talk) 20:50, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I had meant to argue that at most there is a hypothetical paragraph's worth (there is none in the article at present) and unlikely to be any more. Sky Smith fails on independent notability grounds, a bit like Captain John on Torchwood (of whom some stuff is published, but not nearly enough).Zythe (talk) 12:38, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
