Common Term

edit

The burritos are commony referred to as "chilitos" when they only include chili and cheese. I believe this should be added to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.213.112.110 (talkcontribs) 18:38, 12 July 2007

Official Chili

The University of Cincinnati has a "Gold Star Chili" in its cafeteria, not a Skyline.Pr0carbine (talk) 06:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

locations in Michigan?

edit

The info box indicates that Skyline has restaurants located in Michigan, and I recall eating at one in Lansing, Michigan several years ago. However, the official website has no listing a of today (June 10, 2009) for any locations in Michigan. Does anyone know if they still have any?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.108.252.113 (talk) 13:57, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay, removed it myself--the article already excluded Michigan, I guess the info box was just a little behind. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.108.252.113 (talk) 14:00, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Similarity or dissimilarity of Skyline Chili vs. Chili con carne

edit

Accepting as accurate the article's reportage that Skyline Chili is not chili con carne, in that Skyline Chili is not made with meat, there would not seem to be a relevance to the article's mention of the early (circa 1950-1960) popularity of the Thursday chili and Saturday chili menus at Skyline Chili -- at its location in a neighborhood heavily populated with Roman Catholics. The Catholic church leadership's exhortation to its laity, during that period, preceding the Second Vatican Council, to avoid eating meat on Friday, would be seemingly irrelevant to the Friday consumption habits of local Catholics, if the menu featured a cheese-beans-onion-spaghetti combination flavored with a meatless chili. After Vatican II, Catholics changed their eating habits on Fridays of every week only during the Lenten season preceding Easter Sunday, not every week of the year as during the previous era.

Cincinnati chili vs Skyline Chili

edit

Cincinnati chili is a type of chili (as is chili con carne), while Skyline chili is a brand and restaurant that sells Cincinnati chili. To say that all Cincinnati chili is Skyline is like saying all hamburger restaurants are McDonald's. 174.97.16.199 (talk) 23:27, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
