"slave-making" vs "kidnapping" ?

edit

Anecdotally, there has been much discussion in the ant research community about the phrase "slave making" and how it doesn't correctly portray the relationship between the parasitic host colony and the larvae they capture from raided nests. The preferred phrase is said to be "kidnapping", and thus the parasites would be "kidnapper ants". However, searching google scholar shows that the majority of scientific literature published recently (since 2020) still refers to "slave making". I could not find any published article online that addressed this issue clearly even though I know this is a real phenomenon. Could anyone else corroborate? If the name is inaccurate, should the page be moved? Seems like dulosis has the same origin sense (wikt:δοῦλος#Ancient Greek). Arlo James Barnes 18:43, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
