editWell, they certainly should have a talk page! My recent change, I marked minor and said "no factual changes" but I did make a few minor additions, mostly in the related "bands" category (and links to the offical sites). Please help me come up with a better description of the stage show!!! The current one doesn't do them justice, and just does not really describe the live context. I also added the "performance art" and "mucial ensemble" links at the top as an alternate to "band", since calling them a band falls so so far short of the mark, IMHO. Tzf 06:44, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps a section on their instruments in the article? For instance it could mention the names of their odd instruments and then a brief description of what it actually does. For example the "slide action wiggler" I beleive one of them was called. Gohst 23:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think that in the bit mentioning bands which are said to be similar in some way to SGM, it might be an idea to have some bands there that aren't avant-prog, to actually show that they're a bit ... between genres. LupusCanis 20:23, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- I actually think the "Related Projects" part is too chunky. Lots of links and its hard to see what is what. I think it needs to be trimmed up. Also the external links has lots of non-SGM stuff, like Tin Hat Trio links, these should go on their own pages, not here. Gohst 04:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Something is wrong. How could the band start in 1999 when they did a live performance under the same name in 1997? Here's proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMtMTxLIASY&mode=related&search=
- The song is named 1997 Its a name of one of their songs, not the date it was played at. SuperRadX 18:19, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
SB?
editshould Stolen Babies be added to associated acts? Dan produced their major label debut, and he plays instruments on several tracks along with carla & michael.65.43.208.170 08:26, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- If that's true, that Carla, Dan and Michael all played on Stolen Babies album, then yes, they should be added to the associated acts list. -Gohst (talk) 05:12, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Are Sleepytime Gorilla Press, Lala Rola, John Kane, and all of the dadaist/futurists associated with this band fictitious?
editI honestly cannot find an source of information on these figures aside from band interviews. So, it appears it is a hoax. Can anything provide evidence of this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.74.184.157 (talk) 13:58, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if that's the case, then I will edit the article accordingly. Since there is a possibility of a fictitious referencing, yet there is no definitive proof that it in fact is, then I will add the word "possibly" to the sentence that talks about this aspect of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 04:02, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, but I think the burden of proof lies with the people that added the story of the dadaists and the museum in the article, right? Seems like I shouldn't have to prove that the stories are false, but rather that someone should step forward and show that, for instance, the "sleepytime gorilla press" actually existed. I don't think anyone can do that, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.148.241.210 (talk) 05:01, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, good point. There should be coverage detailed on here about the Sleepytime Gorilla Press aside from anything to do with the band. I hope I will be able to do such a thing soon. BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 22:35, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, since you mentioned a John Kane, these men, who are named John Kane, may or may not be of importance: John Kane (disambiguation). BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 22:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- that would be very nice to learn more about John Kane and the "museum." I honestly hope they are not fake, because it sounds fascinating. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.148.241.210 (talk) 05:04, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Would it be less fascinating if it is fictional? I really don't understand. Mark in wiki (talk) 09:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- The Dadaist movement was MASSIVE in San Fransisco and the likelihood of this being a true story is pretty big. Furthermore, John Kane was the wierdo from the early 20th century who wrote the thesis that anything in existence could be proven with a mathematical equation, and more popularly wrote the theory that we truly CAN walk through walls. the problem with internet searching is that we look up, not look into. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.59.142.195 (talk) 22:07, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for sharing your interesting input about the Dadaist movement. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 23:05, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
New Image
editThe new image of the band is CC-licensed according to its file here but there are no such licenses on the photographer's website or the original artist's website (that I can find, at least). Any idea of what we should do about this? Wyatt Riot (talk) 21:24, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- I reverted to the version with verifiable licensing. I'm cool with adding the 2007 photo once we have more information about its license. Wyatt Riot (talk) 19:21, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
First paragraph
editShould be changed. I am just discovering this band and it invites me to move on and dont read... in general this article needs some clarity and more interesting info.
Manoalorts (talk) 19:10, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, and thanks for the criticism. I do acknowledge the fact that the introductory paragraph is not perfect, considering that it is not sourced and how there is a citation needed tag involved with it. Could you elaborate as to what else is wrong with the introductory paragraph, and the article in general? By the way, feel free to add sourced information to the article about this band. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 20:24, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
- PS: As a forewarning for the article, I added a {{refimprove}} tag. Six sources probably doesn't justify the size of this article. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 20:26, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Note
editSleepytime Gorilla Museum is "History". They will release their last album this year, and some of the band members (Nils (from SGM) - guitar, vocal, maybe flute. Dan (from SGM) - bass, maybe homemade instruments, maybe trombone. Michael (from SGM) - guitar, maybe trumpet, maybe homemade instruments and percussion. David Shamrock (from the original line-up of SGM) - drums, maybe other instruments (he can play guitar and keyboards). Cornelius Boots (from Edmund Welles, but not from SGM) - bass clarinet, maybe flute, shakuhatchi, and saxes, maybe other instruments. ) will continue as Free Salamander Exhibit. See http://pmx2.krose.org/forum?action=view&forum_id=1&message_id=450744 and http://pmx2.krose.org/forum?action=view&forum_id=1&message_id=450754 .
I'd edit the wiki page if i knew how to.
