Hi - my changes just got reverted

edit

I'm a partner in Slingshot Cartel and was the Development Director of FreeStyleGames.

I was updating the page, how come my changes got reverted? Who can I talk to get this done right? :)

Thanks,

Jon

  • We're based in Leamington Spa, Brighton and Seattle. Certainly not London.
  • Jonathan Napier was the Development Director of FreeStyleGames, Gareth Morrison was the Art Director.
  • Napier and Morrison were not laid off - they decided to leave similarly to Jackson and Osbourn.
  • We are not working in conjuction with Virtuos.
Hello Jon, thanks for consulting the talk page! First of all, I reformatted your three sections into a handy bullet point list.
Hi, I'm very new to this, thanks so much for your help! Forgive me as I'm going to make a mess of the formatting. I hope I get this 4 tilde thing rightJonathanNapier (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Now regarding the issues: The location seems to have been taken from the company's corporately registered location, that is on 45 Great Portland Street within London. I have found sources outlining the Leamington location, though none regarding the other two locations you mentioned. Are you familiar with a notable publication that and spoken about these, and could you provide a link to it?

That is a legal forwarding address in London, we haven't done any press talking about how our business activities are distributed yet, so if you're okay with it just being listed as Leamington Spa, then that's fine for now and perhaps we can change it again later once we've done some more press. I have had people who may have read this page asking me where in London we're based so it would be great to get that cleared up.JonathanNapier (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the positions, I have found "director of development" being cited for Napier (presumably you), but again none for Morrison. Here goes the same as with above, if you can supply a reliable source, I'd be happy to include it. Furthermore, sources currently say that you and Morrison are ex-employees of FreeStyleGames, but don't specifically mention you being laid off, which makes the statement here kinda odd.
I have found something! http://www.mobygames.com/game/xbox-one/guitar-hero-live/credits.JonathanNapier (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)JonathanNapier (talk) 22:38, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
For Virtuos, in this article, it says specifically "Slingshot Cartel is already working with art firm Virtuos and another company in Leamington Spa that's helping with character models."
We hired Virtuos to create some of the 3D artwork for The DRG Initiative, I'm happy for the record to reflect that but it's the phrase 'working in conjunction with' made it sound like we had entered into a business partnership on the game with them and perhaps that there is an ongoing partnership on the development of the game. I hope to work with them again in the future but I feel like this is just a bit misleading. I've had people ask me about it and I never quite understood why they did, not I've read this page until now but I can see why :)JonathanNapier (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I will address a few of the changes shortly, so please let me know if you have any further input. P.S.: Please always remember to sign your comments by appending four tildes to your comment.   Lordtobi ()
Thanks again so much for your help! The next thing I want to do is create a page for The DRG Initiative, we've just launched on early access and as I understand it YouTube wants a wikipedia entry in order to populate data on the game correctly. That's how I came across this page :) Here's the link to the game's website: https://thedrginitiative.com/ JonathanNapier (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hello again, I'm overwriting my old message so to directly respond to yours; as you might or might not have seen, I have performed a few touch-ups on the article (seperated section, more sources, some rewrites, logo, link to your website, etc.), which also included rephrasings to apply to both, sources and your above comments. Since I'm not quite the best writer (and far from a native English speaker), you might want to typocheck/copy-edit the remade sections.
Meanwhile, I created a quick draft for The DRG Initiative in my sandbox (see User:Lordtobi/sandbox, you are also welcome to perform edits on it). It is just a few sentences, and infobox and two sources, but it is set to be expanded at some point (when you, I, or other interested editors find the time to create the article). A large set-back that I currently see for the article/draft is the heavy lack of reliable sources on the topic. As an encyclopedia, we do not accept any website, fan page, blog, or any of that sort for content posted here, but rather stick with media published by professional journalists (our project hosts a comprehensive list of such reliable sources at WP:VG/RS). Furthermore, of the sources we presently have, none actually goes in-depth with the game's mechanics, gameplay, etc. Hence, give it some time, the game has only been out for a bit over a week, journalists will eventually catch up.
P.S.: I believe the reason YouTube references this article is because the Wikipedia page for "The DRG Initiative" is currently a redirect to this article, but this would change if we eventually push the draft, once finished, to mainspace. Lordtobi () 22:10, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thank you so much, you've done a great job! This reads like a proper article now rather than an assembly of little scraps of information.
Great, I'll go and look for your sandbox :) Yes, very true, we haven't done any press or promotion yet, we're going to wait until the new year for that. There's no hurry for the creation of this page, as you say, once there are good sources then a thorough article can be written.
Thanks again for all your help :)JonathanNapier (talk) 22:38, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Haha, you don't need to reply to all of my sections, I just separate them for better readability (I combined your three individual comments into one here-above).   Have fun toying in my sandbox, and I will talk to you at another point in time. If you seek or want to give any input unrelated to this page (e.g. for my sandbox, any other article, or general inquiries), you can also contact me directly via my user talk page, to get there, just click the envelope that is seated in my signautre.
