Japanese titles

I disagree with using just the English translations as titles but I've asked for a second opinion. = ∫_t^c 5th Eye 15:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I can understand your thinking but I don't think it's necessary to have the original Japanese titles, they aren't present on any of the other Boris album articles, nor on any other Japanese album article I've ever seen. Simon KHFC (talk) 17:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

They're in Pink; also see some Boredoms articles and albums like Rossz csillag alatt született (which is universally tagged using Hungarian names). My main concern is that Japanese-to-English translations are often really sketchy (especially in Pink; when looking at different music sites they aren't necessarily consistent). I think it would be best to give the Japanese names, since they are definitive, while giving English translations next to them for comparison. But, no one has responded to my second opinion request yet, so I dunno. = ∫_t^c 5th Eye 19:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of them being used in Pink, I don't know when they were added but they weren't there the last time I looked at that article. I can see why you're concerned about sketchy translations, but I think/hope that that problem will disappear when the album gets a physical release. I've just dug out my Southern Lord copy of Pink which has the correct translations on the sleeve, hopefully this will also be the case with Smile. I'm actually in favour of using foreign language titles on articles such as Rossz... because Hungarian is derived from the Latin alphabet. Whilst English speakers may not be able to understand the words they will at least recognise the letters used- this isn't the case with Japanese. Simon KHFC (talk) 23:17, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Ha, I've just noticed this article on Pitchfork containing the track listing and it's totally different to the one that's currently up here. Interestingly, Flower Sun Rain is listed as the first track on the article, but it is definitely the fourth track on the version that's leaked, which suggests a different running order on the Southern Lord version. Actually now that I think about it, we should probably have two tracklists like Pink does, because if the Southern Lord release really does have a tracklist like that we'll need two anyway, and the first (original) one will have Japanese characteres. Northamerican / Japanese mixes

So is "Message"/"Statement" the only difference between the two releases, mix-wise? I thought I read someplace that the entire SL version was a different mix. Plechazunga (talk) 04:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Diwphalanx Vinyl

Hi, does anybody have any further info on the Diwphalanx double vinyl verson of Smile? I know that it exists (see here: [1] - maybe someone can translate what that page says?), it's limited to 500 copies (already sold out, of course) and it was only distributed through "diskunion" stores in Tokyo. Maybe it was/is also sold on tour by the band, but I think this is rather unlikely, since most ebay sellers offering this record were/are located in Japan. The band is touring Europe right now, so if the record is indeed sold on tour, there should be more sellers located in Europe.

All I gathered so far is this: The two LPs are packed inside a yellow cardboard box with a heart shaped hole cut out of the front of it and sealed by a sticker on the back. The track listing given on the back of the box is identical to that of the Diwphalanx CD version of Smile.

And these are the things I'd like to know about this record: 1.) How are the tracks distributed over the four LP sides? 2.) Are the songs presented in different mixes/versions compared to the Diwphalanx CD version? 3.) Which vinyl color is it?

The Diwphalanx vinyl version was sold in Japan and is being sold on tour. The band has about 3 copies allotted for each show. You described the packaging pretty accurately - it is very similar to the Japanese version of Pink. It is on black vinyl. I believe it is the same mix as the Japanese CD version but I do not know for sure. I can check on how the tracks are distributed when I get home. BeastmasterGeneral 16:30, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the additional info. The strict "quota" you mentioned explains why the record doesn't show up on ebay more frequently. I'd be more than happy if you could check the track distribution for me. Then we should have enough info on this record to add it to the main page, I suppose.
