- ... that Smithe Redwoods State Natural Reserve was originally a privately-owned site that encompassed cabins, a post office, and a store? Ref 2 in the article
ALT1:... that in 1963, Mrs. W. W. Stout of Marin County, California offered $100,000 for the purchase of what became Smithe Redwoods State Natural Reserve? Ref 5 in the text

- Comment: Expanded by about 10x. Article was formerly at the title Lane Redwood Flat, California before research determined that the current title was the better article name.
5x expanded by Hog Farm (talk). Self-nominated at 19:11, 19 April 2021 (UTC).
- Recent 10x expansion verified. QPQ done. Earwig found no copying. The article looks adequately sourced. It should probably include the {{Protected areas of California}} navbox, say something about the redwoods being old-growth (assuming they are), and mention access from 101, but those are not issues for DYK. I like the main hook better than ALT1 (although it is still not exciting) and ALT1 is a little misleading as Stout's offer was apparently not intended to cover the full price of the plot. Hook source verified. Good to go with main hook. —David Eppstein (talk) 16:49, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
