editThere seems to be a little contradiction on the number of ways to blow a smoke ring:
The third is to form the 'O' with the lips, then gently say just the very first millisecond of 'Oh'. The third technique differs from the previous two in that one does not need to fill up the mouth with smoke beforehand because the smoke is actually being expelled from the lungs, not the mouth. It should be noted that most smokers blow rings using some combination of these three techniques.
I'm going to fix it to refer to four ways. Mattman00000 00:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
How can we quantify how many ways there are to make smoke rings? Some of these also sound like they overlap Teimu.tm (talk) 02:49, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- The methods of creating it should be defined by the physics involved, not the devices. --168.156.1.178 (talk) 18:36, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Wash me!
editThis article needs a bit of cleaning. Kind of looks like a bunch of information copy/pasted from random sources. Might do it myself in a few days, after I get some other projects done. ~ Wakanda's Black Panther! (contribs) 04:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Another volcano smoke ring
editThe recently active volcano on Iceland also produces smoke rings. Maybe some nice additional reference material. See http://news.discovery.com/earth/iceland-volcano-smoke-ring.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.211.151.236 (talk) 10:38, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Huh?
editI'm not sure how to subdivide an article, but I think this needs it! The skill of blowing smoke rings and these other (more topical/important) subjects sure feel conflated.
Some users searching for "smoke rings" may be interested in the tradition and practice of smoke rings as a tobaccania activity. I'm just amazed that tobacco pipes are not mentioned here. There are many tricks you can form with rings. Although you can do some of them with cigars and cigarettes, the categories I've seen in example are slightly mutually-exclusive: French-inhales with a pipe may be possible, but not popular; a cigar can offer a single Great Ring, but...; a pipe provides the flexibility required by experts. I will not quantify or elaborate on these right now, please don't flame me for it: it's a consciousness-raising effort. :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.94.235.246 (talk) 10:03, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
