Smoothie King Center

edit

Smoothie King? Seriously? Hahahahahaha ha ha

  • Not sure who posted this unsigned comment but Smoothie King is an international chain with over a thousand locations and sales of over half a billion last year. What is odd about such a company buying naming rights to a sports venue? Fish Man (talk) 16:45, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Need a more recent arena picture

edit

I'm sure you all know the Smoothie King Center has gone threw a lot of changes in the past 2 years, and the arena's outer appearance looks completely different (new name, different color) I'm thinking we need a more recent picture to represent in the arena template.

For YEARS the picture of the exterior had been a picture of the arena when it had been "The New Orleans Arena" with the "Smoothie King Center" logo photo-shopped on to the building (obvious as the building was its old color in this photo). I would like to thank the not-logged-in editor that found a properly licensed, fairly recent photo (2022) of the building exterior to place in the header. Thanks! That was needed! Can anyone help me find a citation that the capacity for NBA games is about 18,000? (Preferably that doesn't need a paid account to access.)

edit

According to the NBA highlights of the games, attendance of Pelicans home games in the Smoothie King Center is typically about 18,500 for sold out games. The reference in the article that lists the capacity for NBA basketball at 16,000 is incorrect (I don't think it's ever been correct, sounds like an ice hockey capacity, maybe?). This capacity has a citation, but the citation is a PDF document that requires press credentials do download.

If that document listed 16,000 as a capacity at one time, I'll bet it has been updated or corrected.

I'm having trouble finding a Wikipedia acceptable citation for 18,500 though. Would linking the NBA's official game attendance information (which is easy to find and doesn't require an account) be an acceptable reference?

Thanks. Fish Man (talk) 16:41, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
