The result of the proposal was withdrawn because it was pointed out that the move request per WP:TV-NC is unneeded. All that is needed is a speedy redirect delete of Smothered.

Oppose

1. Oppose, if for no other reason than that the term "Smothered" can reasonably be assumed to later be needed for some other article, so disambiguation is appropriate. I would also point out that discussion about the issue of disambiguation is ongoing at Wikipedia_talk:Naming conventions (television), so it is premature to be engaged in page moves at this time.    By any reasonable measure, consensus has been reached at Wikipedia_talk:Naming conventions (television). Before I submitted this request, I verified that there were no links to [[Smothered]] which used to redirect to asphyxiation (Smother still links there). If it turns out in the future that Smothered is "needed for some other article", it can always be moved then. This is standard operating procedure in Wikipedia. In the mean time, it is confusing and disruptive to disambiguate a title when there is no other article with that name. --Serge 01:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Unneeded

This isn't even needed. Consensus was already reached on the TV-NC talk page that the guildline should stay as "disambiguate only when needed". Now the argument is only about TV series which have exceptions. A lot of TV series which don't follow the guildline have already been moved, or are in the process of being so - and so far no evidence of the disruption or confusion that you're making a fuss about.

What Smothered needs is a speedy tag, under the category of deleting redirect pages so proper (not cut and paste) moves can be made. --`/aksha 03:41, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
