Cartouche

edit

I made my first attempt at using Wiki's new hieroglyphic encoding (see WikiHiero and WikiHiero/Syntax) to do Sneferu's cartouche on this page. If anyone else wants to join in the fun, I found the cartouche at [1]. Further info on the Hieroglyph Coding Manual syntax (including the codes for cartouches, which aren't documented on the above Wiki pages) can be found at Manuel de Codage. --Stormie 05:03, May 31, 2004 (UTC)

Crackpot to controversial

edit

I modified the language of the article from crackpot to controversial. Why? There is a tendency for the 'academic' world to dismiss the stories of Egypt from the Bible. And there is a similar tendency for Biblical scholars to dismiss the academic world. In the interests of keeping this article neutral and balanced, I modified the language to be less inflammatory. --Paulrach 09:09, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request

edit

A new user, Bio0003 has created and an article Date birth of sneferu which I am speedy deleting as CSD A3, as it a request for information on Sneferu. I am including his request here just in case this can be answered for him. All grammar and spelling are Bio0003's.

can you please make a page on the birth date and about sneferu's birth on his documentry because it only says when he reaighned. i know that this is not an email but eventualy you read this, find out the date of birth and then fix it. if no date of birth it obviously is no help. fix your mistake please. i am just a person wanting information for school and not getting it. ta. Logan Biondo w.h.s.c. please make this as soon as possable.xx Dsmdgold 03:44, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't know for sure, but it may be that his date of birth is not actually known. --Stormie 05:39, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Name section

edit

It's good to have one, but the recent edit gives no sources and could be OR. What I can find sourced is "snefer can be translated as 'to make beautiful' [2] Ian Shaw, The Oxfored History of Ancient Egypt. Doug Weller (talk) 11:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note that the actual translation, per Abd'el Hakim Awyan (an indigenous knowledge keeper) is NOT what Shaw surmised, but rather sne="double" and "fer"="harmony e.g. "Double Harmony" WikiMinstrel (talk) 20:07, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Praise of the Two Lands

edit

It seems that Sneferu made a boat by this title. Where can I get information on that boat?--Doug Coldwell talk 19:30, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is the only reference I could find. Look on page 20. I guess that's not much help though. --Woland (talk) 19:44, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Building projects

edit

I changed this since it seems that Meidum is not in Dahshur. See Wiki on those pages. Jmefr (talk) 11:23, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
