removed the link for "Price Chopper"
I removed the link for "Price Chopper" - if it's not related to the American brand, then it shouldn't link there. --Riyehn 01:13, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I added two Sobeys logos, and corrected a description of their logo. I also made a few corrections in the last section. -- BoyoJonesJr 4:41 PM AST, 21 Mar 2005
Earlier text had Frank Sobey found the company in 1907; Frank was born in 1902. more corrections/additions to follow. --gpgrainger 1:58 PM AST, 22 Jun 2005
I put the history section into point form and seperated the information about "Ready to Serve" into a new category. As it is a rather big change in the operation of the stores, I feel that it deserves its own section. I also added a few more of their banners. --BoyoJonesJr 6 July 2005 23:12 (UTC)
i revised the Sobeys company section, specifically the description of the company organization, it cleared up what sobeys owns and what the empire co owns--BoyoJonesJr 17:26, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
i updated the brands section and added tradition markets, created a retired banners section and added garden market iga and knechtel to it. --BoyoJonesJr 19:54, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
I revised some of the wording that seemed to be cheerleading more than informing, among other minor edits. I don't think you can use the term "dominant", considering the relative market shares of Superstore and Sobeys in Atlantic Canada either. --Gpgrainger 18:45, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
The "Our Best" line has now been phased out in pharmaceuticals as well. Gpgrainger 20:10, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- It has? News to me. I still see plenty of Our Best pharmaceuticals at work... Granted, it might be in-process, but it's still not completely finished. --Zippo 12:48, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's true. Our Best pharmaceuticals are the last line of products to be transitioned into the Compliments line. --Roby0215 14:26, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Revised the knechtel retired banner. Knechtel was a small-market grocery operator, not a convenience store. --Roby0215 14:35, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Did a bit of cleanup, such as "Coming March 2005..." where time has passed, it's now reflected as history, not future. Moved the reference to the gas bars. The first chunk talks about the Compliments brand and suddenly jumps. In fact, the Company section needs a rewrite, where you break off the private label story into it's own section as "Compliments Brand" or something. --Roby0215 02:01, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Project One
If there is anyone with better access to information than myself might they be able to add information about the recent "Project One", launched September 29, 2006?
What's the largest?
What's the largest food retailer in Canada? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.11.104.83 (talk) 03:53, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
According to SN 2009, Loblaws is way larger than Sobeys[1]--SirFalstaff (talk) 15:09, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Sobeys website reference
I don't see why the section.. "According to their own website, they do not currently have any stores in British Columbia. This information is displayed on the splashscreen of sobey.ca. If you have been to that site before, you will have to delete your cookies first to view the splashscreen." is necessary. Especially the part about the cookies. why is this relevant to the article?? I think its enough to say that they have 1300 stores in 9 provinces. Is it that important that people know how to view the splash?? My suggestion is to drop the cookies sentence and write something along the lines of "British Columbia is currently the only province without a Sobeys branded location"--BoyoJonesJr 14:02, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
That front page is wrong anyway, apparently. Their own store locator shows a location in Fort St. John, BC. Kirjtc2 19:39, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Logo and Compliments Balance
The logo actually was edited, although the change was minimal. I remember is being mentioned at the employee conference I attended in 2002 covering the changes that "Ready to Serve" was to introduce. I managed to dig up a couple of references. Old logos: http://www.rcsretail.ns.ca/images/sobeysLetter.gif http://www.cthrc.ca/eng/images/Sobeys%20at%20NSCC.jpg Like I said, it was a minimal change, but when you compare to the new logo, you can see the the S was altered to wrap around the o. The last s was also changed to match. My line on Compliments Balance was referenced from Sobeys' own website, but I've edited it make it a little more neutral. --Zippo 15:26, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps the logo was changed but does such a minimal change warrant inclusion in the article? Either way, its good to know.--BoyoJonesJr 16:22, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Clean up
Did a bit of cleanup put in title to sectize the information and for less confusion--Vic 05:11, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Food City
A local grocery store near me used to be called Food City, then became Food City Garden Market, then IGA, and now it's a Sobeys. Can somebody confirm and add this to the page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.141.134.4 (talk) 13:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC).
Semi-protection
I've asked for this article to be semi-protected due to the high level of vandalism these last few days. Cavenbaparlez à moi 21:53, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Sobeys-retail-logo.jpg
Image:Sobeys-retail-logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:11, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Nova Scotia stores not listed?
Why aren't the Nova Scotia locations listed? There are Sobeys stores in Nova Scotia. Hell, one of them is in my town. 142.177.153.27 (talk) 19:11, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Add them. I added all the Newfoundland and Labrador stores. No one person added the entire list of stores. :) NeonFire (talk) 03:31, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
The N.S. store list contains all the stores in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, but re-list Sydney, which is in the C.B.R.M. Also, some places are listed by city, while others are listed by Municipality. How should it be listed? Lungdart (talk) 03:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
