Why the split?

Why is this article split from Social Democratic Party (UK), surely it was the same organisation after '88, with the same leader etc. G-Man * 17:02, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Suggestions for improvements to this article

Does anyone else agree that there is too much unsourced text in the article? Also, surely the middle paragraph in the Bootle by-election section is surplus to requirements and should at the very least be shortened: after all, the feature is supposed to be about the "continuing SDP", not about disputes between Labour and the Monster Raving Loonies. Finally, regarding the right hand box: the notion that the original SDP had a "centre left" ideology is questionable in itself, but the suggestion that the continuing SDP was also centre left really does stretch things a bit far. Many of its members went off to join the Tories in 1992, and their leader endorsed a vote for the Conservative Party in that year's general election. In fact, the reason for the Owenites' refusal to merge with the Liberals was precisely because they regarded them as too left wing. Multiculturalist (talk) 09:12, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

London Assembly Elections 2021

The SDP doesn't seem to be ended yet, despite what this article says, as it's fielding candidates in London 2021, using the same logo and website https://sdp.org.uk/ Seems like the article needs an update.@Pyrococcal pyrococcal (talk) 16:23, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
