Intended split for the Pretexting sub-section of this article
editHello all! I have written a draft for a separate article for pretexting, and was planning on moving that article to the mainspace and hyperlinking it back to this article (as was done for the other social engineering attacks, such as phishing, water-holding, etc.). Please let me know if there are any issues with this. You can find the draft of the article in my sandbox. HanMiKC (talk) 21:40, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
Wiki page introduction.
editI think using this example to provide what could be someone’s first chance to understand social engineering is poorly judged. It centres around malicious code injection, which is rarely seen as central to modern social engineering. It has almost no overlap with the human element that is so central to what SE relates to. Does anyone have thoughts on the matter? -Sev
‘An example of social engineering is the use of the "forgot password" function on most websites which require login. An improperly-secured password-recovery system can be used to grant a malicious attacker full access to a user's account, while the original user will lose access to the account.’ Severrrr (talk) 13:42, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
