Hello Kate,

This is a great start for your article! The topic is very interesting as well! For the “background” section I’d recommend more information on what platforms are the most used across Africa, is it Whatsapp, Instagram or Facebook? Maybe also expand with data on the demographics of the people who most use social media.

As for the "State Actors" section, I really liked the breakdown you provided with the different sections. I would recommend discussing if the use of social media for campaigning and promoting political discourse has been effective or if they were failed attempts. Additionally I’d expand on the intro to that section or completely remove it.

I really liked the section for Non-State Actors. The “opposition forces” paragraph felt very completed and I enjoyed how you expanded on the different examples. I would recommend talking more about the CJA for the civil society section, maybe expand on how exactly they gathered support to protest.

The challenges section was very informational, I really liked it! I think it could be incorporated as background information as it’s good information to know before diving into how social media is used in Africa. Overall I would recommend expanding on the examples you provide throughout the different sections but I really enjoyed your article and I believe you are on the right track!
