We are the Wiki project, not a corporate mouth-piece. This article should be edited or removed.

What's wrong with it? The content seems fairly neutral to me, although more details of Vodafone's mismanagement should be added. Jpatokal 16:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I've added a peacock tag to request cleanup of this problem. There are many facts that need attribution. The article is also written in a way that suggests SoftBank PR was involved--"the famous Sha-Mail picture mail". "Transparent global roaming"?

What does the following sentence mean?

Vodafone Japan's 3G network is compatible with UMTS and supports transparent global roaming for existing UMTS subscribers from other countries outside Japan, but not for GSM subscribers.

As a T-Mobile GSM customer in the USA (where T-Mobile does not operate a 3G network), I can definitely roam on Vodafone JP's network by using a 3G-enabled handset. Unless 'transparent roaming' means 'seamless roaming' (uninterrupted handover), but that doesn't make sense here either. —Broccoli 02:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I think you answered your own question: you had to use a 3G handset to roam in Japan, not your plain old GSM one. Jpatokal 05:39, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

But it's not the Japanese network not allowing GSM subscribers to roam, which is what that sentence is implying. Otherwise, some Cingular subscriber with a dual-band 'free-with-contract' phone can claim that GSM itself does not have 'transparent global roaming' either because his lousy phone does not support the European bands.
