Media page
editDoes anyone else think it would be a good idea to to move the media info at the bottom of the article (including episode list) to List of SoltyRei media? I think there might be enough data for a separate article, plus the main article is kind of long. --Eruhildo 05:37, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Engish Reading
editDo anyone know how to pronounce this name in English and its origin, "ヴォートル" ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.215.112.18 (talk) 03:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- The rōmaji of ヴォートル is "vōtoru" and a quick google search brought up the word "votre" which I believe is French (Babelfish says it means "your"). Hope that helps you, though I don't know why you're asking that here - I can't find anything like that in the article. --Eruhildo 16:30, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Its the storekeeper's name that English-dubbed failed to translate or pronounced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.215.112.68 (talk) 19:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, you mean the one that little girl steals from? I forgot about him. Maybe we should add him. --Eruhildo 19:36, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Newlights Child
editDoes anyone know what Newlights Children are? Rita Revant (Greco) was recently added to the characters' page and listed as a Newlights Child. It's been awile since I've watched that episode (I think it's ep 6), so I can't remember. It would probably be a good term to add to the glossary. --Eruhildo 03:26, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Newlights Child is a term given to children who lost their parents/ family from the Blast Fall or orphans who survived the Blast Fall given under special law that they automatically become a "Registered Citizen" including the unregistered ones, whether their families are Registered Citizen or Unregistered Citizen. While adding this, how about adding the term Registered Citizen and Unregistered Citizen in the Glossary and their meaning. Sorry, not very good in giving descriptions.
- No, that helps a lot. I remember hearing it now. I think it would be a good idea to add that as well as "Registered Citizen" and "Unregistered Citizen" to the Glossary. --Eruhildo 16:28, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Shouldn't this be "New Rights child"? That's how it is translated in the English subs of the US DVD releases, and it makes more sense, especially considering there's no phonemic difference between "r" and "l" in Japanese. I'm going to change the Rita Revant (Greco) entry to reflect this. Elunah (talk) 16:55, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Insert song
editDoes anyone know where I can put info about the insert song "Return to Love (Jazz version)"? I know it should go under Music, but I'm not certain how to format the data I've got. The credits for ep22 listed:
作詞 : 奥井雅美 英語詞 : ??美佳 作曲 : 奥井雅美 褊曲 : 大森俊之 歌 : Geila Zilkha
The question marks are characters I couldn't make out. --Eruhildo (talk) 23:36, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- 渡邊美佳. You've been doing your research. That's good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Philippeandrews (talk • contribs) 17:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! And thank you for putting it in for me - it looks good. --Eruhildo (talk) 17:56, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Solty Rei?
editShouldn't this anime be called Solty Rei with a space, not SoltyRei? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 01:29, 2 February 2008 (UTC)--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 01:29, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, the official name is SoltyRei (see official site (in Japanese) and FUNimation one (in English)). ANN lists it as Solty Rei, but that's a mistake. "Solty Rei" would refer to Solty Revant. --Eruhildo (talk) 19:26, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Just a side note--does anyone know why "Rei" is used in the title, or in reference to Solty Revant? It seems rather random, especially since the namesake is "Solty Rock", and I was curious if anyone had an insight/source on that. --Elunah (talk) 21:22, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- "Rei" (レイ) is short for "Revant" (レヴァント, Revanto). I guess that's something that isn't clear to English speakers. We should probably put a note in about that. --Eruhildo (talk) 15:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ahh, I should have figured that out. My Japanese needs some work, it seems =(. This does sound like something that could be a useful comment. Seems like it should go in the lead. --Elunah (talk) 03:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- The Australian/New Zealand release by Madman Entertainment lists it's english title as "Solty Rei" since this is the english Wikipedia shouldn't we be using the english title? Which is Solty Rei with a space? Ancient Dwarven Chaos Knight (talk) 16:48, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- The series is officially spelled "SoltyRei" by FUNimation. Per the MOS we should use this best known official title, which in this case would be the FUNimation one. --Eruhildo (talk) 00:02, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't "Rei" have multiple meanings in Japanese, that might also be meant or implied in the title--meanings like soul, ghost, zero--even a nod to Rei Ayanami wouldn't be beyond imagination? I'm not so certain I believe that "Rei" is just short for "Revant". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.160.218.42 (talk) 21:43, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Is Solty really a resemble?
editI've been working on the pages, and something is bothering me. Solty is listed in multiple instances as a Resemble, but I don't think this is truly appropriate. In Episode 5, Yuto discerns between the two groups of people in the city--"naturals" and "resembles", and then mentions that there is a third group now that Solty has shown up: "And now, a completely new being distinct from those two has been born. A being whose entire body is composed of machinery... A being many scientists dreamed of, but could never realize... With reverence, such a being is called thus among scientists: a 'genuine'." Thus, it seems that she should not be called a Resemble or a "Genuine Resemble", but rather just a "Genuine". Calling her a "Resemble" seems similar to calling a Lamborghini a "Power Wheels". The Resemble technology was developed from the technology that bore her, and has similarities, but it's a step down from what she is. I guess what I'm saying is that she may be 100% Resemble, but the term "Resemble" as applied to a character is inappropriate for her, because it describes a human who took on mechanized parts, as opposed to something completely and originally mechanical. Thoughts? --Elunah (talk) 06:56, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's a very interesting thought. I think I agree with you - let's call Solty a Genuine and use Resemble for humans with Resemble parts attached to them. After all, Resemble technology was based on the technology used to create Solty. Since she came first, it doesn't make sense to call her "100% Resemble" - the characters just said that because they had nothing else to compare her with and knew nothing of her past. --Eruhildo (talk) 18:46, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Madman Release and Cover Typo
editI'd like to point out that this was released in Australia by Madman Entertainment, This is missing from the release information.
Actually, there doesn't seem to be any information on the DVD releases...
Also, as an oddity, there is a typo on the box-set collectors edition, On the back cover of the volume six dvd, it states: "Contains Episode 24-26" when in reality it contains episodes 23-26, just a little bit of useless trivia I suppose. heh maybe it will make this box-set more valuable one day :P Ancient Dwarven Chaos Knight (talk) 16:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Updated the page with more recent information, and condensed the Media sections into one section. Ancient Dwarven Chaos Knight (talk) 16:40, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Cease and Desist
edit"Prior to this, a fansubbing group had reported receiving a cease and desist letter from FUNimation Entertainment with the English name of the anime given as Origin," This doesn't seem very important, and could be seen as venting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.121.58.164 (talk) 03:01, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed the statement for two reason. First, we generally don't cover fansubs in articles because of their illegal nature and such coverage is typically self-promotion. Second is that the statement is not repeated later in the article. The lead section is a summary of the rest of the article and shouldn't contain "new" information. —Farix (t | c) 12:06, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
