Demographics

edit

User:Dabaqabad

Hi, I've just added some more background info in the demographics section, particularly for Tog Wajaale since it doesn't fall under Awbarre woreda and is a separate district. Wadamarow (talk) 15:02, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Wadamarow,

The Habr Awal clan seems to live in the Awbare woreda as well, although the woreda is majority Gadabuursi. I have changed the content to reflect the source cited. I am well aware that Tog Wajaale doesn't fall in Awbare woreda.

Many thanks, Dabaqabad (talk) 19:56, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi [[User:Dabaqabad], The source I've added doesn't state that Habar Awal live in Awbarre at all, there is only a reference to Gadabuursi. The language you use "make up a significant portion of the woreda" doesn't seem to reflect what the source says. If you can find a source which states Habar Awal live in Awbarre I'm happy to be corrected. I've changed the language to reflect that. Kind regards, Wadamarow Wadamarow (talk) 20:07, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Wadamarow: I've done some research and Tog Wajaale, a significantly sized border town exclusively dominated by the Habr Awal is located in the Awbare zone. The statement is therefore correct. I have added it back Dabaqabad (talk) 14:49, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dabaqabad You've made two claims here; 1. Tog Wajaale falls under Awbarre woreda 2. Habar Awal make up a significant portion of Awbarre

If you're able, like me, to provide a source backing up your claims then feel free to revert back my edit. I do not wish to get into an editing war and I'm simply asking you to provide sources for your claims. Thanks

Dabaqabad

Just to add some further context, Tog Wajaale has its local government and was made separate from Awbarre Woreda almost 4 years ago now. The local council includes both Gadabuursi and Habar Awal representatives which accurately reflects the demographics of the town.

The source I've added below shows the Reer Nuur clan and Habar Awal both living and owning farm lands on the outskirts of the town. Mohamed Abdi; Safiya Tani; Nasir Osman. LOCAL CAPACITIES FOR PEACE Addressing Land-based Conflicts in Somaliland and Afghanistan (Table Graph). Academy for Peace and Development. p. 67. Retrieved 6 July 2017. "Baseline Data of Land Conflicts in Somaliland, showing Samaroon (Reer Maxamed Nur) Jibril Abokor (Aadan Cumar), share the town of Tog Wajale" .

Furthermore, Tog Wajaale is a town, half of which is administered by Somaliland and the remaining half by Ethiopia, even if Tog Wajaale falls under Awbarre Woreda, that wouldn't be enough to constitute a "significant portion" of the district.

I hope that clears up the demographics of Wajaale, I could easily edit your Wajaale part and include Samaroon and I have plenty of sources to back up my claims, however since I do not wish to enter an edit war I have thus far not done so. If you insist on including Habar Awal in Awbarre, then I will insist on the same for Wajaale.

Please update the Demographics section, instead of “Hawiye subclans” it should be changed to The Karanle a Hawiye sub clan. Abdo1278 (talk) 00:20, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: Assuming you're referring to the statement Subclans of the Hawiye inhabit the western and southern areas of the region, and assuming you mean to say that the Karanle are the only subclan of Hawiye that inhabit the region, you would need to provide a reliable source to support that for the change to be made. ‑‑Volteer1 (talk) 16:05, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I need to add more information
