In Russian phonetics sonants are consonant sounds like /m/ or /n/ (also /j/, /w/, /l/, /ng/. They are sonants because in these sounds the voice component prevails over the "noise" component. In English phonetics I didn't come across this term. Ясный День (talk) 15:47, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
