First Draft - Notability
editHello, because this type of article is regularly questioned for notability, I wanted to discuss my rationale for drafting a new article. See WP:BREAKING, WP:NOTE, and WP:RECENT for more information on the relevant wiki policy. Originally, I included reference to this proposal in the Sonics article. Due to the ongoing nature and increased interest in the subject, I started this article.
News coverage in Seattle has been ongoing for 6+ months, with daily coverage recently. National news sources, such as the New York Times, USA Today, and the AP have also run stories on the topic. It is quite clear that the topic has already had significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject. Even if this proposal does not come through to fruition, notability is not temporary and the article should not be deleted.
I also wanted to discuss the current content of the article for other contributors. I wanted to provide background on the various arenas in Seattle and their tenants. Currently, this section feels a little long, but I think the information is good and gives a strong background to those not familiar with the area. As the other sections are expanded, the background should fit in nicely.
Please fill in information about the proposal, the investors, and the public debate. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Udeezy (talk) 16:02, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
