study with Elizabeth Blackwell
edit> The following year she hoped to attend a new medical college being established by Elizabeth Blackwell in New York, but in the same year her father died and she returned to England to be with her mother.<
This suggests she was not a student at Blackwell's New York infirmary, but the Blackwell article states that she was.
Cause of death?
editWhen I was growing up in Rotherfield in the 1970s - 80s, there was a commonly-repeated belief that Jex-Blake died from a head injury sustained when she fell off her bicycle (the story went that her dog, which was often to be seen running alongside her bike, became entangled in the wheels). I remember there being a small stone on the north side of Eridge Lane about a mile out of the village, just before Hornshurst Wood Cottages, which was reputed to mark the spot where she died: I'm pretty sure it had her initials carved in it, although my memory may be embellishing. Can anybody shed light on this (or refute it)? ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 18:40, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
