Recording Contract
editArticle says "best known for being the second San Francisco band to get a recording contract with a national record label". Who was the first? AMCKen (talk) 23:13, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- The first major recording contract for one of the bands that would be defined as having the San Francisco sound -- (Blind Thomas) Jefferson Airplane. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.27.201.201 (talk) 01:45, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
This is incomplete
editHaving just stumbled across recordings of this band from 1977 and 2012, it's clear that the story didn't finish in 1974. I doubt that Dimeadozen.com is a source one can rely on, but for what it's worth, the taper's notes give the following line-up for 2012 in San Francisco:
Line-up (unconfirmed, borrowed from hoppkorv's bandlist!) ::: Peter Kraemer - lead vocals, flute, saxophone // Nandi Devam (the Artist Formerly Known As Terry MacNeil) - keyboards, guitar, vocals // Martin Beard - electric bass, vocals // Mike McKevitt - guitar, sitar, vocals // Bruce Slesinger (aka "Ted" from the Dead Kennedy's) - drums
and for 1977, again in SF:
Line-up (Sopwith Camel version #8) ::: Peter Kraemer - saxophone, flute, synthesizers, percussion, vocals // Jimmy Ward - lead guitar, timbales // Mike Lafferty - keyboards, synthesizer, trombone, backing vocals // Clarence Stephens - electric bass // Bill Buckingham - drums, percussion, backing vocals.
This line-up is said to have been short-lived, for 1977 only, and the recording is from a show where they opened for Moby Grape.
I have no information about when the 2012 line-up was actually formed, nor whether they are still in operation. Nor do I have the interest to pursue verified information which could be put on the main page.86.164.145.178 (talk) 22:37, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
