Redirect or disambiguation
editHey @Moline1: and @TimothyBlue: I see that this page was recently changed from a redirect to a disambiguation page, then changed back and forth some more. Maybe it's better to try to reach a consensus here, instead? I don't really have an opinion on this subject, but what I do know is that a large number of pages now link to a disambiguation page, which needs to be solved one way or another. - @Lennart97: and @TimothyBlue:. I think this page works better as a disambiguation page. While there is currently no distinct genre known as soul rock, there are some soul genres that feature rock and soul fusions, and one that was literally coined by a rock musician, parodied by that same artist (Paul McCartney coined the phrase while recording a song by saying "Plastic soul man, plastic soul". This song would end up on Rubber Soul, which itself is a parody of the klitchy "plastic soul" genre/term that McCartney had coined), and then applied to David Bowie, who used the term himself to describe Young Americans and Station to Station (These would result in him becoming one of the few white performers invited onto Soul Train. The term would also be applied to his 1984 album Let's Dance).
- Cinnematic soul, brown-eyed soul, and psychedelic soul have also been known to feature rock instrumentation as well, and many bands/artists such as War and Jimi Hendrix, etc have embraced these styles as well. Moline1 (talk) 23:42, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Moline1: Thanks for your reply. It's fair enough as far as I'm concerned, but the only problem is, as I mentioned, that now a bunch of pages about artists and songs (26 to be exact) link to this disambiguation page, which is not a good thing (see Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links). Do you think you could try solving these, by making the links direct to the article that fits best in each case? You can see which articles have these links simply by clicking "what links here" in the toolbar when on the Soul rock page, and then filtering for the Article namespace. It would be greatly appreciated! Lennart97 (talk) 14:54, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
