Titanfall
editI believe Titanfall and Titanfall 2 are source engine games. However, are they built off Source 1 or 2? Oldag07 (talk) 00:56, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I think there are more [1] Oldag07 (talk) 00:56, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I think Titanfall 1 and 2 should still be added, I mean you could argue that the source engine was modified so much it is no longer a source game, I could as well modify other engines as well and I think it is still a game based on that engine so they should be in here ArythNeon (talk) 13:31, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
- There's actually a lot of evidence to back this up. When I was experimenting with Titanfall 2's files, I managed to delete "materials/console/r2_background01_widescreen", resulting in a classic Source engine error screen. Other points of evidence include:
- Titanfall 2 having the Source-exclusive version of the checkerboard, noclip, cl_showpos, showfps, and most other Source commands. (Can't run d1_trainstation_02 though >:( ) Averycoolusernamethatservesbasicallynopurpose (talk) 02:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think we're missing the important question - how do RSes refer to the engine? It's not up to us to decide what counts as "still technically the source engine". The way I see it, we could end up adding to the list as we would any other Source game, we could do that but have some disclaimer that it's modified, or fully exclude it from the list. 9yz (talk) 19:35, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Sources clearly note how they use a derivative of the engine. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

- The Titanfall 1 engine is a fork of the Portal 2 engine. Drew McCoy, a former respawn dev who worked on all three games in the series, said so in a reddit post. Snipe (talk) 15:16, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
@Oldag07 Titanfall Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends do indeed all run on a very heavily modified versions of Source 1 [1]

- Everyone? If so then this post should see overwhelming support. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 12:09, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Adding the Titanfall series to this list
editI am of the opinion that excluding the Titanfall series from the list of source games is wrong. The listed reason for why they are not included is that they've been so heavily modified that they no longer are qualified as source games, but that seems arbitrary and it isn't defined how modified a source game must be to no longer be considered source.
