Greyshirts vs. Other South African Nazis
editHow were the Greyshirts different from groups like, the Ossewabrandwag? ----DanTD 23:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- According to Christoph Marx ('The Ossewabrandwag As a Mass Movement, 1939-1941', Journal of Southern African Studies, Vol. 20, No. 2 (Jun. 1994), p. 208) the Greyshirts differed from the OB in that they were less about Afrikaans identity and more about co-opting the Aryan notions of Hitler and applying them to South Africa. As such they were active amongst the various white communities of the country rather than concentrating on the Afrikaans like the OB. That being said, he also states that a number of Greyshirt leaders later ended up in the OB where they brought in a stronger emphasis on anti-Semitism. Keresaspa (talk) 14:42, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
