I have a National Geographic globe from 1965 which shows "South Arabia (UK)" as the entire southern coast of present-day Yemen. (Yemen, on this same globe, corresponds to Yemen Arab Republic though isn't named as such.) The globe does not show a separate Federation of South Arabia nor Protectorate of South Arabia; rather "South Arabia" would encompass both territories, but not reach as far inland. It would also seem to correspond to Aden Protectorate but, again, just along the coast – not the hinterlands. However, Aden (city) would seem to be a separate entity from South Arabia, as it is labeled "Aden (UK)" (rather than simply "Aden") even though it is within South Arabia. I bring this up because it isn't clear (to me) whether the area depicted on the globe closely corresponds to an entity described on this page (or vice versa). -- Gyrofrog (talk)21:07, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
