South End (disambiguation) → South End – Lots of cities have South Ends, why would the Boston one be the primary topic? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 20:58, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. While every city has a south end, as a proper noun, South End appears to predominantly refer to Boston. Apteva (talk) 22:28, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Comment [1] seems like there's lots of South Ends outside of Boston. (or England for that matter) -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 01:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Comment – It might also be worth noting that the only picture offered on that page is a map of the Boston district. SteveStrummer (talk) 06:28, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Alternateive move to South-end; possibly redirect both South End and Southend to it. -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 01:31, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Agree There are lots of South Ends, as a proper noun, in cities larger than Boston. San Francisco and Charlotte both have South End's that show up on the first page of a Google search of that term. The Boston one gets top billing in the search simply because it is the current holder of that name on Wikipedia, and Wikipedia always ranks high on Google searches because of all the back links to an article and high rates of updating increases the SEO.Camelbinky (talk) 18:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose – I believe the Boston neighborhood takes precedence for the same reason that Central Park takes precedence over Central Park (disambiguation). The South End is a large and integral part of a major city, and it is a clearly defined district with a storied past (listed on the US National Register of Historic Places). None of the other dab entries rise to that level of recognition. I think only one – South End, Halifax, currently a stub – could be a possible contender but I still don't believe its imprint compares to Boston (note that Googling for "South End Halifax -Wikipedia" yields about 13 million hits while "South End Boston -Wikipedia" yields about 204 million). SteveStrummer (talk) 06:24, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- South End-Groesbeckville Historic District contradicts your facts about "none of the other dab entries rise to that level of recognition".Camelbinky (talk) 18:31, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Regardless of what the primary topic for this term might be, the tag "(disambiguation)" clarifies the status of this page and remains helpful to the reader. Kauffner (talk) 07:58, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: MOVED. There is unanimity here in moving the dab page for South End (disambiguation) to South End, currently a redirect to a neighbourhood in Boston, Massachusetts, as there is no indication the south Boston "'hood," as phrased by SMcCandlish, is the primary topic.
Note from Closer: As I lack page mover permissions, I am unable to carry out this move, so I will ping a non-involved page moving editor I know, IJBall, to complete the move. Doug Mehus T·C 12:27, 24 January 2020 (UTC) (non-admin closure)
South End (disambiguation) → South End – No clear primary topic for 2 words. There are quite a few uses of the 2 word term and also quite a few for the 1 word term. I don't think a suburb of 24,577 is clearly primary for such a generic term. When I Google the 2 word term I only get results for the Essex town but that's probably because of my location. South End of Stamford also has some historical importance. Views show that this does get more views than the others with 2 words but not significantly more while the town in Essex gets over 5x as many [[2]] [[3]]. Also note that the South End only gets 39 views compared to 2,022 for its target compared with 453 v 10,156 for the Southend redirect [[4]]. I'm also fine with retargeting the single word term to the DAB and/or moving the DAB to the singular word. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:32, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom. It's not plausible that the 'hood in Boston, Mass. is globally the primary topic for a phrase that is widely used especially in place-names. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 15:47, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
- I would also note that although there is implied consensus (aside from the other RM) that the place in Massachusetts is primary due to it redirecting there that we can make this move without breaking many links since they will likely already be to South End, Boston. However if it is primary it should be moved to the base name like Roslindale, see others in Category:Neighborhoods in Boston but the proposed move would make that moot anyway like Memphis.
