It seems that this author confuses South San Diego, with the South Bay area and "South County" area.
Politically wise:
The South Bay area includes National City, Chula Vista, Bonita, Imperial Beach, and South San Diego.
South San Diego (part of the South Bay) is composed of the Egger Highlands, Palm City, San Ysidro, Nestor, and the Otay Mesa districts.
"South County" is a even more inclusive area. South County usually refers to the area of San Diego County that is within the city limits of the cities of San Diego, National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and Coronado, and the areas within the unicorporated communities of Lincoln Acres, Bonita, and Sunnyside.
Hence, South San Diego is located within the South bay area, and the South Bay is Located in the South County Area.
Street Slang wise (in gang/tagging terms):
The South Bay (SB) usually refers to National City and northwest Chula Vista(north of L Street, west of Third Avenue). However, some of the gangsters and taggers in northwest Chula Vista will still claim South San Diego or South Side, since the "South Bay" term is only claimed by a select few gangs in that area.
South San Diego (SSD), or South Side(SS), usually refers to South San Diego proper, Imperial Beach, and southwest Chula Vista (south of L Street, west of 805 and Brandywine Avenue), but never National City.
South San Diego is part of the City of San Diego
editThe author confuses South San Diego proper--which is part of the City of San Diego located at the south end of San Diego Bay, east of Imperial Beach and stretching to the Mexican border--with what is usually known as "South Bay" or "South County." South San Diego does not have any cities within it, since it is part of the City of San Diego itself. The San Ysidro neighborhood is part of South San Diego. --71.104.17.242 08:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Rewrite/Removal of incorrect information.
editWhile quite of bit of interesting and useful information is included in this article, I will move it to the South Bay, San Diego section, where it belongs. South San Diego encompasses the following communities only: Egger Highlands, Nestor, Palm City, Otay Mesa and San Ysidro. It does not include any areas of Chula Vista, National City or Imperial Beach (all of which are used here). Ljmajer (talk) 22:38, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. It almost seems like non-San Diegans are trying to write this article. 72.199.182.210 (talk) 22:59, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Bonita
editBonita is not located in the South Bay, as Chula Vista makes up Bonita's entire western border. In other words, Bonita doesn't touch the bay, therefore it isn't part of the bay. 72.199.182.210 (talk) 23:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
You can include Bonita as a south bay community, since part of Bonita actually lies in the City of Chula Vista, and the rest lies in unincorporated county. The unincorporated part has a section that reaches the Sweetwater River outlet, which dumps into San Diego Bay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.220.81.93 (talk) 19:59, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Bonita is considered East County, and not part of the South Bay.71.10.224.148 (talk) 21:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
