Is this part of West Coastway line?

Is the Southampton-Fareham a distinct line or part of the West Coastway line (and so does this article need to exist)? The through "Coastway" trains from Southampton to Brighton use this route. Crookesmoor (talk) 15:15, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

The West Coastway line article is about the modern train service, with only a very brief reference to history. The marketing brand name West Coastway was introduced in 1990 with the electrification; prior to that there was a sharp difference between the former LBSCR lines and the former LSWR lines. The LBSCR used the term West Coast (not Coastway) for services from Brighton to Portsmouth. Afterbrunel (talk) 08:56, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
