@Boynamedsue, here is my analysis of the sources in the article. With four sources that I am decently confident contribute to WP:N and a couple more that probably do, this article should be able to pass WP:GNG. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 17:58, 15 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for that analysis. I would agree that 1 gives sigcov and is reliable. I disagree in some other respects, source 3, as a text on geology, is not a reliable source on a cultural region. Source 11 does not give significant coverage to the concept of Southern Mexico. Source 13... I don't agree that it gives significant coverage to the concept of a distinct southern region, it simply notes poor economic conditions in 3 southern states. In my view, you would be better off searching for new sources that unambiguously discussed southern Mexico in and of itself, rather than finding mentions of the term in sources on different topics.Boynamedsue (talk) 19:25, 17 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I feel like you are being too restrictive (though, perhaps I am being too hollistic). As long as a source is talking about a concept of a functional or vernacular region composing of the southern chunk of Mexico, it should realistically count. It should not really matter if the description is economical, cultural, or geological. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 21:17, 17 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you don't mind, can I notify the relevant Wikiprojects to see their opinions on the matter? ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 21:24, 17 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
