This quote "Supporters and opponenets of the "Global Warming" argument need to consider this effect as it shows that data taken over a few decades has little relavence when one consders a cycle that has a 400 year (or more) period." is simply preaching and should either be rewritten with references or deleted.
Global Warming Science
editSupporters of the Global Warming Sect need also to consider the basis for the projections of human caused climate change. Projections are generalized scenarios that all too often are interpreted by politicians as fact. The Earths climate is far too complex to model to achieve consistent and scientifically valid short term projections. the models can only be "trained" to recognize historical changes in climate. Far too many rely on data that is too sparse and too time constrained to be able to cater for even millennial variations and cycles.
That means that the modelers interpolate or bias the model by assuming values for unknown and unmeasurable inputs.
That is why NO model has predicted climate for even the larger events such as ice ages, maunder minimums etc. Nor have they predicted the general fall in temperatures between 1998 and today. You cannot model multivariate systems of the complexity of climate. What the modelers do is generalize and claim their scenarios are scientific. We lampoon astrologers and phrenologists for that sort of science.
Rest assured there is no scientific methodology that supports the IPCC it is purely a political body and its science is self assessed nonsense. Global warming is an excuse to raise taxes - hence the appointment of economists in the UK and Australia to "evaluate the evidence and risks". Its a cause embraced by the greens and the gullible in much the same way as Hitler cultivated the idea of a Master Race based on phrenology as science.
The climate change we are experiencing is no worse than others within recorded history and is certainly less likely to impact man than the Little Ice Age or droughts and floods of the recorded past.
The scientific basis for global warming is less likely to be man than macro forces such as the Sun's activity, that of the local space the world travels through and the fact that a few tens of thousands of years ago the earth was in an ice age and may or may not be in a warming cycle.
The scientific way to evaluate evidence is to consider the proposition and remain skeptical. PjC01a (talk) 03:11, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
little ice age
editI deleted stuff on Little ice age embedded in refs, and also removed it from the table of solar activity because the little ice age is a climate period on earth, not an activity period on the sun. They're connected, sure. But the years are already accounted in the table. I'm preserving the unformatted text cut from the table to preserve the sources NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 13:00, 1 March 2015 (UTC) unformatted text from table |Little Ice Age [1][2][3][4]|| 1350 || 1850
