I've marked the Macht article from the Baseball Library site cited here as an unreliable source, as there are a few problems with it. It claims that Toporcer never played in the minor leagues, although he obviously did so for many years. Some info (i.e., the widespread usage of his book) seems to be from The Glory of Their Times, which was published in 1966 and may be outdated. I found nothing on IMDb about the movie made of Toporcer's life, and a quick Google search also turned up nothing.
