Sources of information
editI haven't got time to look at them now, as it's the early hours of the morning here in the UK, and my bed is calling to me, but some possible sources of information might be found here:
- Google Scholar Search - about 145 hits
- Google Books Search - 663 hits
- Google Web Search - about 1590 hits
- Google Images Search - about 237 hits - hopefully at least one of these will be either Public-Domain or Copyleft or other usable licensing!
If I get a chance to, I'll look up some of these tomorrow (well, later today in my time zone!).

Specialised non-conducting handles?
editThe statement about specialised non-conductive handles makes no sense as is. The only handle materials mentioned to that point are wood and fibreglass, both non-conductive. A non-conductive handle is thus standard and not specialised. LowKey (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Should this article be reverted to the 2009 version?
editLooking at the revision history of this article, it's painfully evident that most edits were made by people who've likely never seen a spike maul, let alone actually used one. The early version by Gandydancer2009 is accurate and reasonably complete, and it seems to me it would improve things to revert back to that version.
