editUser:Bkissin I learned something from your comment, which is that you are implying that Bandcamp is similar to iTunes and Spotify. I had known that we do not use them. Okay. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:54, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
- Robert McClenon, the way I understand it Bandcamp creates a webpage for unsigned artists to share their music with a larger audience. A band from my undergraduate days used it Bandcamp. Since bands can put up their songs up there, I assume it'd be considered user generated content, and we still don't have consensus on internet plays (iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc.). If you'd like to get the discussion started at NMUSIC, I'd be happy to chime in. Bkissin (talk) 20:00, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
- User:Bkissin - Well, at least a discussion of music guidelines might be less likely to call for the guillotine than the current argument over the French Revolution. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:58, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

editThere isn't a guideline on Internet plays. But see comments being moved from the front to the back.
- Robert McClenon, I would say no, the album doesn't meet notability because of Bandcamp. We haven't yet had a conversation as a community about using iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp as charts that meeting WP:NMUSIC criteria 2 or 3. However, I would say that coverage by Anthony Fantano and Mashable help the notability case. Bkissin (talk) 19:47, 20 October 2020 (UTC)}}
- Does this album satisfy musical notability criteria based on having charted number one on Bandcamp? Robert McClenon (talk) 22:55, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- I will be accepting anyway. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:15, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
