Photographs of Edith Splatt

edit

Currently the page shows both a small portrait photo of Edith Splatt and a picture of two women in a farmer's cart addressing an open air meeting during the Mid Devon election campaign in 1908. The picture of the two women does not show Edith Splatt. It is taken from a picture spread in The Sketch, dated 15 January 1908.called The Art of Gathering a Crowd. The Sketch identifies the women concerned as Mrs Martell and Miss Gawthorpe, not Edith Splatt.

I believe that some confusion has arisen from an article in Devon Live in connection with the centenary celebrations of Votes for Women, see One hundred years of suffrage - 100 incredible Devon women then and now - Devon Live The first picture shown is not related to the mini biography of Edith Splatt below but was selected to illustrate campaigning more generally.

Sadly in my researches into Edith Splatt's life (the article cites my work) I never discovered any other photos of her, even from family members.
