Merge with Greater Springfield, Queensland
editTo my knowledge the development is not known simply as Springfield. However, there need not be two pages on the one specific area so I am proposing a merger or sorts, resulting in a redirect from one page to the other, whichever is decided to be the more correct page name. Agreed: Merge and redirect to Springfield. I am not familiar with the term Greater Springfield. Another issue which needs clarifying is what local government area it falls under. Is it a suburb of Brisbane, part of Moreton Shire or Ipswich? - Shiftchange 03:24, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- The following are a list of resources that I found that may help with finding out where Springfield is located
- Merger of Moreton Shire with Ipswich in 1995 [1]
- Map of Brisbane City Council's Western Suburbs [2]
- Map of Brisbane City Council's Southern Suburbs [3]
- Map of (Greater) Springfield area [4]
- Reference to Greater Springfield in a commercial property site [5]
- PDF of an act of Parliament referring to Springfield as part of Ipswich Shire [6]
- Another Government PDF [7]
- Government PDF referring to both Springfield and the Greater Springfield Development [8]
It definitely seems to be in Ipswich, as Moreton Shire no longer exists as of 11 years ago. It is also referred to as Springfield mostly, with references to Greater Springfield Development being an alternative in both Government legislation and corporate websites.
I think its safe to redirect Greater Springfield to this page, and move some new information across from the Greater Springfield page if necessary. Ansell 04:42, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Theres a sentence here " Future stages include Cinemas, and a Bulky Retail Centre". what is a bulky retail center? How about large retail center or something, Bulky sounds a little bulky. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.94.54.14 (talk) 01:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's time to remove the redirect from Greater Springfield to Springfield. There are now several suburbs in Greater Springfield, of which Springfield is just one. Most of the content of the current Springfield is really about Greater Springfield. Comments? Kerry (talk) 01:34, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was procedural close. This is a question of merging, now that both titles are articles. There are merge discussions at both talk pages right now; those should probably be consolidated. --BDD (talk) 17:18, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Springfield, Queensland → Greater Springfield, Queensland – There is a suburb called Springfield, one of 6 within Greater Springfield. This article is titled for the suburb but incorporates information for the whole development. They need to be separate articles, moving this one will enable the suburb article to be independently developed. Kerry (talk) 09:14, 27 August 2015 (UTC) --Relisted. - Why do we need an article for Greater Springfield? If it is just a general name given to a group of suburbs why can't those suburbs just mention they are part of it on their respective pages and have a paragraph or section on the Springfield article explaining what Greater Springfield is. - Shiftchange (talk) 10:18, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
- Although titled as the article for the suburbs, almost all of the existing content in this article is about the Greater Springfield Development as a whole, due to the article merger of several years ago. That merger probably made sense at the time as it was very early in the development's history. But now most of those suburbs (apart from Spring Mountain) have been built, it's time to distinguish between the suburb of Springfield and Greater Springfield Development as a whole which is notable as it's the largest master-planned community in Australia; it has an act of Parliament to establish it etc.[1] So my aim is to tease apart this content into two separate articles. I think all of the suburbs involved should mention that they were created as part of the Greater Springfield Development (without checking, I think most of them do already). Kerry (talk) 23:23, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
- Kerry Raymond is right, but a new article Greater Springfield, Queensland was created today by HannahResolution. I think this article should be edited so to make it about Springfield, not Greater Springfield. If there is not enough information, that this article should be redirected to Greater Springfield, Queensland. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:35, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
