I think the article may currently give disproportionate weight to promotional framing surrounding the SpudCell announcement. The underlying paper is currently a preprint and has not yet undergone peer review. In addition, Biotic is closely connected to the subject: Biotic identifies Kate Adamala, the lead researcher on SpudCell, as one of its four co-founders, and describes itself as the organization intended to take the SpudCell work forward. Much of Biotic's own material uses strongly promotional/forward-looking language about the significance of SpudCell. I think the article should distinguish more clearly between the researchers' claims, Biotic's advocacy/vision, and independent scientific assessment of the work.
