Spike vs. Spyke

There was a character in X-Men 3: The Last Stand that was credited as Spike. He had a different look but could have been Spyke from x-men evolution.

No, that was Spike from X-Statix who I'm pretty sure was based on Spyke from Evo but I don't know where to find a reference on that. Either way, the whole X-Men 3 reference should be removed or changed to reference the correct character as both Spyke and Spike are linked to The Last Stand... obviously, only one was in the film and I don't think "fan speculation" is a solid encyclopaedic reference. 97.97.196.118 (talk) 08:11, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

I removed references to X-Men 3 and directed them to the character Spike which was the inspiration for the film character... Some one might wanna go in and clean up some of the "Other Media" section though because I am (1) unfamiliar with Spyke's introduction to Marvel's 616 Universe and (2) a Wikipedia novice.97.97.196.118 (talk) 20:01, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Criticism

Most of the criticisms come from Open Forums of X-Men fans who watch the show. I can see if I can try to find something more referable though (67.165.75.121 02:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)).

Contradictory Entry

It says in the "Other Verions" section that, in the Marvel 616 continuity, "...As of yet D. E., still in his early teens, hasn't manifested any mutant powers, but he has the ability to spawn bone shards or spikes from his body." Pow-R 8

The article suggests that Spyke began having problems controling his spikes because of drinking Pow-R 8 but this doesn't seem likely. While Spyke did have times where he would accidentally fire off his spikes, such as seen when he's carpet suffering and crashes into a wall (nearly blasting Rogue with a spike barrage) in the episode Blind Alley, for most of his appearances from his introduction in Speed and Spyke to his joining the Morlocks in X-Treme Measures he had realative control of his powers beyond these accidents. However, the episode The Stuff of Villians (two episodes prior to X-Treme Measures) shows Spyke already starting to have trouble controlling his powers as after a confrontation with a couple of school bullies he has extreme difficulty. And even in X-Treme Measures prior to his drinking the Pow-R 8 the one and only time he's seen doing so we find him already having difficulties controlling his powers as he's not able to retract the spikes and plates on his back early in the episode and the following morning find's his hand strting to be covered by his bone plates.

Judging by his extremely violent reaction the moment he takes a swig of the Pow-R 8 it doesn't seem likely that this wasn't his first time trying the stuff. It's supposed to be poison to mutants, so he should have been at least showing some ill effects before then. Througout the series what happened in previous episodes could carry over to later episodes. That doesn't appear to be the case here, it seems that this episode was the only time he ever tried Pow-R 8 and that it is a mere poison and not something that affects a mutant's ability to control their powers. Rather, his inability to control his powers seems more a natural effect of his mutation which was already beginning to speed up prior to his coming into contact with the Pow-R 8.

As such, maybe the article should be adjusted to reflect this, unless anyone has actual confirmation from the show's creators that it was indeed a result of the Pow-R 8. - annonymous 3:03 AM August 17, 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.71.213.18 (talk) 07:03, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Spyke in X-Men: Days of Future Past film

There is a rumour going around that Spyke appears in the new film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Someone has already added it to the Wiki but I don't see the character anywhere... not sure if this is trolling or just someone's poor memory but I removed it after watching the film in theatres three times... IMDB claims the character credited as "Mutant Soldier" is Spyke, but I don't know what their source is, or if there even is one. "Mutant Soldier" has a similar appearance as Spyke but exhibits a totally different power. --173.59.16.87 (talk) 21:57, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
