What does the article (or section) do well?

As someone who had not heard of squishmallows, the background and rise to popularity was very well explained and I felt like I got a great sense of what they are from the introduction.

What changes would you suggest overall?

The formatting needs work to fit with the standard wikipedia format. Break down paragraphs further to create more defined sections that so that readers can find info faster. For example, under "Product", have a section for sizes, care instructions, customer reception, and distribution channels.

What is the most important thing that the author could do to improve his/her contribution?

Add pictures, I think that the visual component is very important for understanding the appeal of squishmallows, so lots of pictures will greatly improve the page.

Did you glean anything from your classmate's work that could be applicable to your own? If so, let him/her know! I don't think I will ever buy a squishmallow, but I have heard about them so I am glad I will now understand what people are talking about!

I thought you did a good job explaining what Squishmallows are, and as someone who didn't know what they were this article provided me with great insight as to what they are. However, I think you should check some of the social media numbers you provided as they seem to have around 500,000 instagram followers and not 500 million. The background, though, and how Squishmallows became popular was great. I think you could use the American Girl wiki page as a template to add more information — Preceding unsigned comment added by Munzerrabah (talkcontribs) 16:39, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Someone needs to add the logo image

edit

If a company is famous, Wikipedia should include its logo. I mean, wouldn't it be great to see that the company got its very own page of them with their own logo? MinecraftPlayer321 (talk) 02:14, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Rarity Scale and Collaboration History

edit

I plan to clarify the transition from acquisition to partnership involving Kelly Toys and Jazwares. I will also add some updated information about the recently released rarity scale by Squishmallows to the Pricing and Collectability section. I will also add that certain Squishmallows have a "First to Market" rarity stamp and a picture example, as well as create a new section titled "Collaborations" to move the mentioned Monolopy collaboration to and expand on the other collaborations that Squishmallows has promoted since the partnership with Jazwares. Updates Throughout Page

edit

Hello Editors - I’m submitting this request to see if anyone could review and help make the requested changes listed below? I have a COI with this topic as outlined on my user page. I hope I followed the request format and submitted it properly - let me know if anything else is needed. Thanks.

Request:

Done I think I got all the misspellings. How does this look for ownership?

Request:

Done Am I right that I should remove the extraneous information about background and stuff? This reads better and more in line with wiki standards now anyway.

Request:

  • What I think should be changed: Adjustments and updates to the history founder section
  • Why it should be changed: It is largely out of order, out of date and missing historical information about founding company Kelly Toys.
    • Lines like the following are confusing as they are currently written: Judd Zebersky, CEO and president of Jazwares, said declared plans of partnership with Kelly Toys in 2019. The official partnership was announced in April of 2020 by Zebersky along with Kelly Toys and their parent company, Alleghany Corporation. Thus, Kelly Toys Holdings expanded its position in the market for toys
    • It’s missing historical moments such as: the distribution expansion of Jazwares’ Russ Berrie brand, which was acquired in 2018
    • Wicked Cool Toys was acquired in the back half of 2019
  • References supporting the change: Use existing sources, happy to provide more if needed
Done I think I did it. Used the sources with some sources and I think I understand the history here. Kinda confusing.

Request:

Partly done I'm probably showing my age here, but I don't see a way to see TikTok views for a hashtag in these sources. Is there another source I can use?

Request:

Done with some language changes to remove fuzzy time.

Request:

  • What I think should be changed: Updates in Material section
  • Why it should be changed: Missing some new product lines likes Stackables, FlipAMallows, FuzzAMallows, Squisharoys, Squooshems.
  • References supporting the change: https://shop.jazwares.com/collections/squishmallows
Not done this source won't work. Do you have a third-party source I can use? EDIT: I actually found a million sources about these, to the point where I don't think it's contested at all, so I added the missing ones (Stackables and FlipAMallows are already listed there).

Request:

  • What I think should be changed: Add Target and Amazon.com to list of retailers in Retailers section.
  • Why it should be changed: Squishmallows are sold there, it’s listed later down in the paragraph. Also this isn’t accurate and is missing a source, can you remove it? Line: The higher-priced and more high-end Squishmallows are sold at Hallmark while the more cost-efficient Squishmallows are typically found at Costco, Target, and Walmart.
  Done

Request:

  Done

Request:

  Done

Request:

  • What I think should be changed: Review and update the current line in the Awards section: 2022 The Toy Foundation Awards
Done with some added text, although I may shrink this whole table in the future to make it less wordy.

Request:

Done but see above about changing the table.

Request:

Partly done Well, the archived sources do support what's on the page, but the first source is primary (and not backed up elsewhere), so I removed that first sentence).

I can help with this - taking a look now. Super organized, so thanks for that. --FeldBum (talk) 21:12, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@OjuaraA made some edits but had a few question so maybe take a quick look at my work. FeldBum (talk) 13:03, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@FeldBum Thanks for your help reviewing - glad the format was helpful. I'll wait for your responses to the others, but organized the responses below based on requests answered thus far. I'll keep an eye out for your ping once the rest are addressed.
  • For the First request - looks good.
  • For the second request - the number in the intro wasn't updated to 3,000, the source I shared confirms that update though it says "more than 2,000", but the Popularity section mentions 3,000. Also for the sentence in the Pricing and Collectibility section still reads "The average resell price for a Squishmallows depends on the size, condition, and rarity of the specific item." It's referenced as a style vs. item in the intro. Could you match them for consistency?
  • For the third request - Appreciate the changes to bring this section up to date. I understand why the sentence I mentioned is confusing, my request is to rewrite it to make more sense, something like “Judd Zebersky, CEO of Jazwares, announced a strategic partnership with Kelly Toys in 2019 to “reinvigorate and expand distribution” of the Russ Berrie brand, which Jazwares acquired in 2018. After collaborating for a year, Jazwares acquired Kelly Toys to expand their marketplace position and obtain additional licenses for the brand.” Would something like that work?
  • For the fourth request - Here is one, I see as of May 2024 “There are currently more than 13 billion video views on TikTok, and Squishmallows has been tagged more than 1 million times on Instagram.” Source: https://www.snackandbakery.com/articles/111237-jazwares-signs-co-branding-deal-with-sees-candies
  • For the fifth request - Looks updated - good.
  • For the sixth request - I don’t have a third party source - though it’s on the company website what they sell and throughout a number of sources individually.
  • For the seventh request - Looks updated - good.

OjuaraA (talk) 19:21, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @OjuaraA, that all makes sense. Let me think about using the site as a source (or see if I can find another). I just need to update awards and then this is done. --FeldBum (talk) 16:29, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@FeldBum Thank you - hope all is well. I appreciate the review. All looks good - awards section looks good, thanks. See responses below.
  • For the fourth request, looks good - just Instagram is mispelled in the Popularity section (reads Intsagram), if you can update.
  • For the sixth request, I saw you added all of them in, thanks. Providing a few more sources below if it helps bolster the updates.
  • For the seventh request, Amazon technically isn’t a retail store or location you can visit like the rest. Could you revise the line and mention something like “and online retailers like Amazon and Squishmallows.com”?
Additional ask - Could you link Jazwares in the info box? They have a page - I also see a notice on the top of that page. Could you possibly review that or let me know what I need to request or provide to address it?

OjuaraA (talk) 16:31, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh, as in it's owned by Jazwares? Yeah, that makes sense. A tag on the Jazwares page, you mean? I'll check it out and see what it is. --FeldBum (talk) 17:03, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Note that I have removed the entire awards section - it was very promotional in tone and had almost no independent sources that weren't fluffy industry press. As a personal rule of thumb, awards should be included if they are notable enough to have their own Wikipedia article or the subject receiving the award received nontrivial independent coverage.
