St.Monica Elementary/Jr.High (Calgary) → Saint Monica High School – Replacement of abbreviations by a clear informative full name. Peco Wikau (talk) 22:17, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. The school's own website uses the abbreviated form "St.", as does the sponsoring Calgary Catholic School District. The Board's website uses the abbreviated form "St." for all such schools in its list.
- That official usage is supported by common usage in reliable sources (per WP:COMMONNAME, search gNews and gBooks):
Search term | gNews | gBooks |
---|---|---|
"Saint Monica" school Calgary | 5 hits | 77 hits |
"St. Monica" school Calgary | 74 hits | 185 hits |
- Oppose Alberta Education also used the "St." form on their list of high schools https://education.alberta.ca/apps/eireports/excel_files/Authority_and_School.xlsx Note that since this particular school just a junior high school (hence not on the preceding Alta Ed page) and does not appear to be notable we should redirect this article to Calgary Catholic School District. No problem having a redirect form the "Saint" spelling too.
- Alberta Education does use the long form for a few school, but those all have Francophone names. Meters (talk) 03:51, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
- Note. The nominator is one of the subjects of an ongoing Sockpuppet investigation. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 03:26, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
