I would like to contest the speedy deletion of the St Denys Church page. As a representative selected by this church, I am hoping to increase the amount of information that can be found about it on wikipedia so created the original link and added the text from another site. However the copyright of the text originally belongs to us. The church had hoped to keep all information on various webpages consistent, adding to wikipedia at a slightly later date. Therefore please do not delete the page. The committee of St Denys has, we believe, done nothing wrong by quoting our own work and the copyright violation came from a site that, to our knowledge, had no information on. If anything the copyright violation came from www.timaps.co.uk who gained the text after it was posted on www.achurchnearyou.org I have since amended the text so that it can no longer be attributed to any other website. Please do not remove this page. MaryBrooks1 (talk) 17:38, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

St Denys's Church, YorkSt Denys Church, York — Remove "'s" from "St Denys's" (bad grammar), so showing the official church/parish name per Church of England database.—GrahamSmith (talk) 00:26, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment: "St Mary's" is correct and common usage. The equivalent for a church dedicated to St Denys really ought to be "St Denys'", but it seems "St Denys's" is common usage. Maybe s's is correct like it is in "The Court of St James's"... DBD 17:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure where you get "St Denys's" is common usage from. A quick (far from exhaustive) search suggests it is used here and in facebook and nowhere else. Conversely there are plenty of examples of "St Denys'". 82.132.186.136 (talk) 17:22, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
