Is this page claiming that the current encumbent of the post of Black Rod attended St Johns? If so, this should be clarified. It currently suugests that any holder of this post originates from St Johns, which is unlikely!

I have to disagree, with some expansion and work this could be a very good article. Deletion would also defeat the objective of the Wiki Schools Project, as the majority of articles it deals with are of this type, and more notable education establishments articles are with other projects, such as Wiki Universities Project. Yes, but that does not mean every article that even slightly reads like an advert needs to be deleted. Unless the article is very un-notable, it should be cleaned or merged. Camaron1 | Chris 16:39, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

There appears to be an anonymous user with a dynamically assigned, variable, IP address 82.26.98.237 - 82.26.110.9 - 82.26.111.152 - 82.26.99.28 - 83.26.102.63 - 82.26.106.254 - 82.26.107.31 - 82.26.102.218 to name a few.
Who has for some reason, either simple mischief, dislike of the city of Portsmouth England or its educational establishments or some other reason not apparent, decided to repeatedly call by one method or another for the deletion of a set of articles.

It might be suggested that the user is attempting by a series of guerrilla actions to use Wikipedia policies and procedures in an attempt to get administrators to remove all traces of many if not all educational establishments in the Portsmouth area.

While the standard of some of these articles is poor, their removal will not encourage those who have an interest in them to make the necessary improvements to bring them up to an acceptable level.

Merge

I am against the proposed merge of articles suggested it would cause a loss of information in many cases and an overloading of the main page. Notably a similar set of proposals was made by an anonymous user to disrupt the Portsmouth page and those of its schools information is here and also here -- Drappel 21:16, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Accuracy

As a former student I can vouch for the accuracy of a lot of this content, though I can't find any sources which will confirm it. So that means very little, but I'd hate to see this article deleted, it needs to be expanded, perhaps a call to other former students and parents of present pupils might help gather some verifiable sources? 88.14.148.198 12:26, 22 May 2007 (UTC) As a former pupil I'd query the 'girls in the sixth form in 1971' - I attended from 1976 to 1982 and I don't recall that we had girls in the sixth form when I started. We did however have girls who did selected 'A' Levels from Portsmouth High but they were not formal members of the school. St John's College Chapel Choir

I have made some changes to the SJC page, mainly regards to the Chapel Choir section as i was myself a member for 7 years and believe that the Wiki page under represents the work that happened with the Chapel Choir. It is a policy of Wikipedia that all content should be verifiable, see WP:VERIFY. This is done by adding citations to independent reliable sources, see WP:CITE and WP:RS. You will appreciate that many people want to post their ideas here and we have to be constantly on our guard against false claims or endless trivia. For this reason, content which lacks adequate citation is likely to be removed or, in the case of WP:Pending changes protection, refused. If you can provide reliable third-party sources which genuinely support your additions as per the policies and guidelines I just linked to, then they should be accepted. A couple of other points; we usually refer to England rather than the UK, as the latter comprises several distinct countries, also a choir is just a choir and we would not normally capitalise it unless it occurred in a recognised formal title.

On the matter of pending changes protection, this article has evidently been subject to persistent disruptive edits in the past, which is why it has been protected. If you wish to join our community as a successful editor I would suggest that you read around our policies and guidelines - for example there is a "Help" link in the left hand navigation column. I met a gentleman looking for the Old Post Office he remembered 50yrs ago. I found it! It was in Clarendon Road and I think it was opposite Agora restaurant.
