The photo used of the college from Kessel Square is an old photograph, as renovations have been completed since this was taken. Please update. 114.77.219.102 (talk) 06:41, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

What happened to the controversies section? Did those Nazis censor it when no one was looking? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.191.144 (talk) 10:13, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Child molestation

edit

There's a major hole in this article. In the late eighties there was a major child molestation case - it was after I moved away (end of 1984) but by 1989 or 1990 at least some of the Christian brothers had been removed from the school. I met one of them at a university (I didn't discuss the case with him as I figured it was a legal matter that I knew nothing about). I heard that the head of the primary school at that time was one of those prosecuted, and that the brothers were no longer allowed to teach students - making it a lay-only teaching staff.

I could talk about the murmerings about these things and the dubious things that I observed, but we need some reliable sources. Where would we find such things, from the pre-web era - Trove? Have to work now, but I'll revisit this someday. --Chriswaterguy talk 07:45, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I worked out that searching for "St Patrick's College" Strathfield molestation on Google gives a few hits, including this description of an older case (not a reliable source though). --Chriswaterguy talk 02:21, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Recent news mentioning St Pat's: Christian Brother who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting boys in NSW has bail revoked. He was sentenced to 2 years minimum. I'm guessing this is the same Brother Richards who was primary school principal from 1981.
An earlier settlement involving Richards is mentioned here. I'll add more info here as I find it. --Chriswaterguy talk 01:51, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
