Should there be a 'controversies' section?

edit

Just wondering if anyone thinks there should be a 'controversies' section in this article, perhaps referencing Patton's penchant for publishing racist anti-white screeds like this one: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/kyle-rittenhouse-proof-white-women-183033289.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.95.149.108 (talk) 20:26, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yahoo has deleted your link. It's archived at https://web.archive.org/web/20211124191140/https://news.yahoo.com/kyle-rittenhouse-proof-white-women-183033289.html
I support your proposal.
On November 15, 2021, the judge dropped the illegal gun possession charge against Kyle Rittenhouse because his gun was long-barrel and not short-barrel, which made it legal for him to possess. However, 9 days later, on November 24, 2021, Yahoo News published the above writing by Patton, where she falsely wrote that Rittenhouse's possession of the gun was “illegal."
This constitutes defamation, and is the reason that Yahoo deleted the piece.
The fact that Patton is a journalism professor makes this especially notable. If anyone should know enough to not commit this kind of defamation, it should be her.
