Carrying a stick or a symbolic staff of office can often denote social rank or prestige. Whats wrong? Susan Mason

Because the article doesn't explain what is staff of office. It may be a new computer produced by Apple computer or whatever. If it is a typical staff like one wizard carries, the article first says it. -- Taku 04:31 Mar 4, 2003 (UTC)

I propose moving Walking stick#Ecclesiastical use contents into this article.

As far as I am aware, the term "walking stick" is not used for the various ecclesiastical staffs: the term is not mentioned here. I will try to find a few references as well.
