Scientific names in plural
editThis discussion should probably be held somewhere more general. Feel free to move it to where it belongs. And put a link here to where you put it.
I removed the plural s from "All S. californicas have sensors near their legs that allow the praying mantis to lose its head and still function" as I feel the scientific name should not be violated by an english suffix. This is, however, my personal oppininion being a sweede. In sweedish such violations are strictly forbidden. And as carlifornica is considered a name here, the corresponding plural form carlifornicae won't work either.
Now, this is an english site and I'm not sure about what rules apply here. Any comments?

I think you are right.

Main article picture Stagmomantis limbata and not S. californica?
editI have doubts on weather the person on bugguide who identified the mantis in the photo has identified it correctly. But I do not know how to differentiate the two species at the age of this nymph and from that angle in the picture.
