Accuracies in the Offerings section

edit

The second paragraph of the offerings section is problematic as it is mainly sourced from an article but uses a journalistic opinion as fact. The sentence 'However, they play in US dollars on the site.' isn't accurate which is a fault of the source article - users can set display currency which includes cryptocurrencies, Euro, USD etc but that isn't what players bet with. Players can only bet with the 8 available cryptocurrencies available on the website and with fiat currencies in very specific markets such as the United Kingdom. As the statement isn't accurate I recommend removing that sentence as the writer misunderstood that.

The other sentence "the cryptocurrency element is as much a gimmick as it is a way for punters and Stake.com to legally avoid dealing with highly regulated banks." is an opinion from that writer and has a few inaccuracies as it is speculative on the motives of why this website offers gambling in cryptocurrencies. Stake.com is heavily regulated like all licensed casinos[1] and there are numerous reasons, some legal, as to which countries can be serviced in cryptocurrency. In the following sentence, which describes Stake.com offering only fiat currencies in the UK due to license reasons corrects the point from the Sydney Morning Herald Article as it is due to licensing requirements for particular countries, not necessarily 'dealing with highly regulated banks' as was opined by the journalist. Sentences like this don't seem appropriate for an 'Offerings' section, which should be more mechanical. I recommend using the same article and citing a more accurate sentence in the previous sentence instead: "Winnings are withdrawn in the equivalent value of cryptocurrency and then deposited by the player back into the original cryptocurrency wallet." 124.148.166.65 (talk) 04:31, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Lawsuit

edit

I just added information about the outcome of a lawsuit under the history section. There are other court cases involving the company, should they be added to this section as well? Or does it make more sense to have a separate court cases section? Vivocj (talk) 20:42, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
