Important note

edit

The article makes some general claims that he is the principal investigator of several missions based on the provided Vitae. However, unmanned missions don't have an overall principal investigator, rather the instruments do. I've looked through the NSSDC and have come to find Dr. Krimigas has been the:

Principal Investigator for:

  • MIMI on Cassini
  • LECP on Voyager 1 and Voyager 2
  • CPME on Explorer 47

Co-Investigator for:

Other Investigator for:

And has no announced leading investigative role for:

  • ACE
  • Explorer 50
  • Mariner 5
  • MESSENGER
  • New Horizons

The NSSDC is by far the best resource for information regarding missions, especially those in the past. Dr. Bell, the curator does quite well at ensuring the most relevant information regarding missions is available through the NSSDC. I am not claiming Dr. Krimgis took no part in the final list of missions. However, I would like to call into question the author of the Vitae, whether it was Krimgis himself, some student of his or some other individual. Secondly, the article needs to address that he was investigator for those named particular instruments, rather than the entire mission themselves. I don't mean to take away the honor of this obviously notable person, but I do feel it is important that his information be correct if his name is to be at the bottom of a wide number of articles. --Xession (talk) 06:41, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Accuracy concern from IP editor

edit

I have moved this statement here from the article itself:

On behalf of Dr. S.M. Krimigis, we inform you that this article contains several inaccurracies and mistakes, and should be either more carefully re-written, or completely removed. The comment in the discussion section is also inaccurrate, in part due to incomplete past mission descriptions in the NSSDC data base. If any of the authors have questions or need clarifications, should contact Dr. N. Sergis at the Office of Space Research of the Academy of Athens.
