editWhat is the "evidence to suggest that a school existed from the beginning of the fourteenth century" ? It's news to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.145.152.172 (talk) 12:07, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Stamford School badges
editI believe the current discussion of badge colours is in error. I was a boarder at Stamford from 1949 to 1958. At that time, all students wore a red badge. The white badge was restricted to "old boys" (alumni). I hesitate to edit the text because memory can be faulty and the discussion is very detailed. However if anyone else has a recollection similar to mine, please correct the text. Graham R Briggs. 24.60.161.126 (talk) 20:24, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
This is correct. I was at the school from 1956-64 and we wore the red badge. School prefects wore a white badge, as did 'old boys'. The difference was that the red badge and the prefects' white badge showed the stork's head looking to the right (as seen by an observer, or left relative to the wearer) with its beak open. The old boys' badge showed the stork looking in the opposite direction with its beak closed. This may have changed since, of course. Yes, the badge colour was dark red. School prefects were the only exception and their badges were white. Jack's comment about the Old Boys badge is also correct, somewhere I even have one embossed in silver braid. The open beak indicated that we were still learning, the turned head and the closed beak is therefore somewhat self explanatory. Fourty plus years hence, I think they might have had it all backwards! Old Boys
editSome of the alumni listed under Commerce and Sport (and perhaps elsewhere) could do with a cull. If they are legitimate can someone state why (as few have their own page), or if not, perhaps remove them as they detract from authentically distinguished individuals?
- I will cut the uncited and not notable if no improvements are made (many need double references; 1 for notability and 1 for alumni status). - ForgottenManC (talk) 17:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

This could easily be a C class or even a B with more references added. --BSTemple (talk) 20:16, 15 March 2009 (UTC) |
