Why "Standard" Oil?
What is the meaning/origin of the name "Standard" Oil? Were there other "Standard" companies at the time (e.g., a "Standard Steel" or "Standard Railways"), or did the name refer to some aspect of the oil or the business (standard quality of refinement, standard pricing)?
